Visiting Artists Enhance Education in Our Schools

Artist in Residence, Nancy FairbanksArtist in Residence, Nancy FairbanksEvery school year, a professional Nebraska artist visits two to four local elementary schools to share his or her art with K- 5th grade students. For an entire week, the artist visits all children in each school, and works closely with 5th graders to inspire and instruct the students in his or her specific artistic medium. The week culminates in a final project to demonstrate what the students have learned.

The Artist in Schools for 2011 was Nancy Fairbanks. Nancy is a visual artist specializing in pottery and sculpture from Grand Island and has been an artist in residence for 22 years.

Nancy will be returning this fall and spring 2012 to share her creative gifts with your children. Nancy will be visiting following schools this year:

  • Central Elementary - Dec. 19th – Dec. 23rd, 2011
